Take Home Point: Love and Obedience, The Key to A Meaningful Life

Good morning, dear friends, and welcome to the year 2024.  I am thankful to our heavenly father for his grace, mercy, and love that made it possible for us to be among the living in the year 2024.  Remember those that are no longer with us and be grateful to him for the opportunity to be alive today. As we navigate this year, be determined to have a healthy personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus.  He holds the key to your peace this year.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

The New Testament was written in Greek.  The Greeks have a word that best explains the depth of God’s love, it is the adverb οὕτως (houtōs), it can refer to (1) the degree to which God loved the world, that is, to such an extent or so much that he gave his own Son, or (2) simply to the manner in which God loved the world, i.e., by sending his own Son Jesus to die for the sin of world. In our world, people tend to express their love for one another. Even though we claim to love someone, what price are we willing to pay to retain that love for such a person? True love does not come in a bed of roses, it is not convenient to say the least. True love takes time, it takes our intentional efforts and sacrifice to keep it alive. Our claim to love cannot be complete if we are not willing to make these sacrifices.

Our Heavenly father showed us the extent and manner of His perfect and true agape love for us by sending His beloved Son Jesus to die for our sins so that anyone who believes in Him will not die but have everlasting life.

As we begin our journey in the year 2024, let us determine to love God throughout the year in our worship, in our commitment to serving him, in our commitment to loving and caring for our fellowman because according to Jesus words in our text John 14:15, “If you love me, obey my commandments.” (NLT), If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (KJB).

Jesus further admonished us in John 15:12 thus, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” Earlier in John 13:34 Jesus had charged us thus; “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.”

It is my earnest and sincere prayer that God will grant you and your family the grace to obey these commandments of our Savior Jesus Christ throughout this year for therein lies the key to our living a meaningful life in Jesus precious name.

Happy New Year folks.

I wish you a meaningful week.
